Wrecking Ball

March 17, 2012

There is so hypocrisy and irony inherent in Bruce Springsteen’s new album, “Wrecking Ball,” that if it wasn’t so wrong-headed, it would be funny.

The man who recorded passionate rock rongs such as “Born To Run” and “Thunder Road” — songs that celebrated restlessness, wanderlust and romanticized rebelliousness — has now taken on … bankers.

The irony is that Springsteen has made a fortune singing and writing songs about working-class Americans — those same working-class citizens who are struggling to make ends meet financially.  No doubt many of these people have purchased his records, tapes, CDs and MP3s.  And I would imagine that Springsteen has invested and saved a lot of his “hard-earned” $$$ with the help of … bankers.

Now he is calling upon the supposedly-disenfranchised “Occupy Wall Street” crowd to literally *kill* the … bankers.  And I SUPPOSE he also hopes to make money selling his new album to the angry, jobless, over-educated, penniless Occupests.  Not sure how that’s work out, Bruce ….  AND, when the greedy bankers are dead, who’s going to manage all your money from the albums that nobody can afford to buy?

Springsteen is a liberal as far as politics go which is ironic also in that the songs he *used* to sing struck a chord — or at least were *about* —  traditionally more conservative voters.

Liberals in general are also highly critical of  guns, gun ownership and the Second Amendment, yet Springsteen calls upon his angry peacenik crowd to get their hands on some .38 Specials and, well, shoot all the greedy … bankers.

Yep, that’s a hypocritical all-you-need-is-love-peace-and-understanding crunchy-granola liberal for you.  Do as they say, not as they do.

So while true conservative Americans keep on clinging to their guns, religion and patriotic values, Springsteen is rallying the uber-libs for good old un-American violence in the streets.

Whatever happened to “Blowing In the Wind,” man?
